Hello 2.4 readers!
I am back! Since I have been absent and not posted anything real (in almost a month ACK!), I decided to get back into the swing of things by doing a 4 part catch up. Today's happens to be the work one, so feel free to hit the snooze button and check back Thursday for part 2.
Part of the reason I have gone missing in action lately is that work has been stupid busy. The back story, I work at the headquarters for my programs program which means that all the policy and budget stuff for my program has to go through my office. There are only 2 of us, there would normally be 3 but the 3rd position has been gaped for over a year because the gov. can't get itself together.
So work is generally pretty steady for my and my coworker. Then our program got tasked to take over a course for upper level brass Set up at headquarters. There is a contract in place with another company with a person who was set to handle the job. Well the girl and the company decided not to tell our program that girl was leaving 2 weeks before the course was set to start, she told us Thursday afternoon that the Friday was her last day. Mind you this course is 2 weeks long and has 30 + different briefer's. I got hand the cluster F***. Lucky me. Did you know that upper level brass are needy folks? you would think that the reason they are upper level would mean that they can handle their stuff, but nooooo they need help for everything from access to the Internet to where the freaking bathroom is. So needless to say I worked some seriously long days.
The HQ department decided to saddle each of its programs with a new requirement to provide a body to be a sort of action officer for a new task force. Because I am up at HQ, I got the job temporarily MID-Course until we could on board a new contractor to fill the slot. Luckily my coworker could do the on boarding paperwork as I was balancing the other jobs.
Now that the course is over, I get to do the follow up paperwork and the on boarding paperwork/turnover for the back fill of the girl that quit. Which I am happy to hand off but it is more work in the short term than I was actually prepared for.
Also, you know that position that has been gaped for over a year? well we are finally getting someone in July but that also means they need to go through the on board process too.
So overall, my work plate is full... anymore and I might run screaming from the building.
