I recently have veered away from my trash romance/sci-fy/vampires-do-exist usual reads in favor of more mental stimulation.
1) Four Fish- It is about how we humans came to cultivate the four most popular fish on our menus; salmon, tuna, bass, and cod. It makes you want to eat fish and never eat fish again. It gets somewhat technical but is intertwined with the authors own story surrounding fishing and his observations. I would recommend it if you have read the Omnivores dilemma and liked it.
2) The Help-Yup, I realize that this is chick-lit however, it has no mythical critters so I am throwing it in there. It is an entertaining beach read; it doesn't require allot of brain power to process. It moves a little slow for my taste but overall I would recommend it if you were looking for a light read. Yes, I also plan on seeing the movie.
3) BossyPants: This is Tina Fey's book on her rise to fame. Seriously Funny! First of all, I <3 Mrs. Fey to begin with and her book gives me hours upon hours of her sarcasm. If you have seen any of her skits on SNL or liked Date Night, pick up her book for a light-heated look at why she is so fabulous.
