This Labor day, I took the Labor to heart.
I decorated my bedroom, almost all the way, I went to Ikea to pick up the frame I wanted but they were sold out in the sized I needed (Queen). Pictures are forth coming, once I get the bed.
I made salsa, my roommate and I went in on a CSA share. We had some tomatoes that were just past their prime, tons of onions and some jalapenos. I had garlic cloves, salt and a little olive oil to throw in to my roommates Cuisinart blender/food processor combo (it's kinda awesome). Viola, salsa! I used one of my canning jars to store it in the fridge to keep. I think it will be even better in a day or two once all the flavors blend, if it lasts that long.
I made roasted squash soup to freeze. The CSA has provided us with a couple of small quashes, a butternut and a round one that kinda looks like a tiny pumpkin. Throw that in with some onions into the blinder and thin it out with some chicken stock. Now i have some yummy soup in my freezer when it really gets cold.
I also did the traditional house cleaning, grocery shopping, and dog washing. I feel very productive.
What did you do this labor day?
